PHILADELPHIA (KABC) -- An autopsy has failed to pinpoint why the boyfriend of "Glee" star Becca Tobin died at a Philadelphia hotel.

Matt Bendik, 31, was found dead inside a room at the Hotel Monaco in the 400 block of Chestnut Street around 1 p.m. Thursday, according to Philadelphia police.

A medical examiner on Friday afternoon said an initial autopsy didn't reveal the cause of death and more tests are needed.

Police said there were no signs of foul play and no evidence of drugs or drug paraphernalia in the room. Authorities say suicide doesn't appear to be the cause.

Detectives are working to retrace his steps and learn more about what may have caused his death. Police are also obtaining surveillance video to assist in the investigation.

"They are going to conduct interviews with witnesses, anybody who may have been with him. They are going to do that background investigation," said Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker.

Police said Bendik, who runs several clubs in Los Angeles and around the country, including DBA nightclub in Hollywood, was in Philadelphia on business.

Tobin, who joined "Glee" in 2012 as catty new head cheerleader Kitty Wilde, was not in town at the time, according to police. The actress' manager, Ricky Rollins of Schumacher Management, said that "with respect to both the Bendik and Tobin families, there is no comment at this time."

Almost a year ago, "Glee" star Cory Monteith died of an accidental alcohol and drug overdose in a Canadian hotel.
