Chris Hemsworth reprises his role in the sequel 'The Huntsman: Winter's War,' but while he may play the title role, the movie has three strong female characters.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Chris Hemsworth reprises his role in the sequel "The Huntsman: Winter's War," but while he may play the title role, the movie has three strong female characters.

Charlize Theron returns as the evil queen Ravenna, and Emily Blunt plays the Ice Queen and sister who Ravenna betrays. The two join forces and threaten the entire kingdom.

Also new to the "Huntsman" scene is trained warrior Sara, played by Jessica Chastain.

"In the film these women are in charge of their own destiny. They have the ability to lead armies and conquer kingdoms and so on, and I think that's great," Hemsworth said.

Chastain continues to be in charge of her career destiny - one that's earned her a pair of Oscar nominations.

"I want to continue to play different characters. I was on a stretch where I was doing a lot of films where the characters were going through a very dark time. I was ready to do something fun, and this movie was really fun," Chastain said.

"The Huntsman: Winter's War" is in theaters nationwide and rated PG-13.
