Joan Rivers rushed to NYC hospital after cardiac arrest
NEW YORK CITY (KABC) -- Joan Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City on Thursday morning, hospital officials said.
The 81-year-old comedian was transported in critical condition from Yorkville Endoscopy at 201 East 93rd St. at 9:39 a.m. ET, according to the New York City Fire Department. Paramedics had responded to a call about a woman in cardiac arrest at the outpatient clinic in New York's Upper East Side.
She is now listed in critical but stable condition, according to E! News. Rivers stopped breathing during a minor endoscopic procedure, E! News reports.
"I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers," Rivers' daughter, Melissa Rivers, said in a statement.
Rivers co-hosts the E! TV show, "Fashion Police," and continues to do stand-up comedy. Rivers was scheduled to perform Friday in New Jersey. That show has since been postponed. According to Ticketmaster, she has seven shows planned across the U.S. for November.
