Kerry Washington talks 'Scandal,' motherhood
Kerry Washington shares her thoughts on what it takes to balance work on 'Scandal,' while taking care of her young daughter.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Kerry Washington jumped back into work on the fourth season of "Scandal" a few months after giving birth to her daughter, Isabelle.

Though being a working mom was quite a change, Washington credits people like her own mom and "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes with setting a good example.

"I have really amazing role models and 'sheroes' who have found ways to balance work and home life, and I am just looking to them and trying to live in the amazing abundance of blessings that I have in my life right now. It's quality problems to have so much good stuff." Washington said.

In "Scandal," Rhimes tackles tough issues head on. That's something Washington loves.

"She doesn't shy away from the difficult stuff. That's important to me. We have to be willing to talk about the stuff that really happens in life," Washington said.

Washington recently shot a public service announcement raising awareness about domestic violence. Being able to give back, promote causes, produce and act leaves the actress in a perpetual state of gratitude.

"Gosh, I feel like I need to work on a whole new list of goals, because so many of my desires and visions and dreams have come true," Washington said.

"Scandal" returns for its fourth season next Thursday at 9 p.m.
