DEVORE, Calif. (KABC) -- A music festival for heavy metal fans scheduled for this weekend will go without a controversial smell this year.
"There is not going to be any camel poop. No camel poo burning. No camel poo on site," Knotfest Producer John Reece said.
Created by the metal group Slipknot, Knotfest brings together more than 50 bands to perform on five stages in Devore. This year, the San Bernardino County Fire Department axed the idea of camel poo that was present at the first festival.
Hard core fans traveled from far and wide to get to the festival anyways.
"Three small flights and a six hour delay in Seattle, but here we are," said Dalton Lemon, who flew in from Saskatchewan, Canada.
While fans waited outside, crews on the inside put together several attractions.
"I think people want to be entertained. For their hard earned dollars they want to see a lot of things and we're bringing them a lot of things," Reece said.
More than 20,000 people are expected to pack the San Manuel Amphitheater. Its campground facility already sold out.
The concert begins for campers and VIP guests Friday, but others who want to enjoy it can buy tickets at the door on Saturday.
