LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The young homeless man who accepted Miley Cyrus' award at the MTV Video Music Awards has a warrant out for his arrest in Oregon.

Jesse Helt, 22, was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass in 2010. An arrest warrant was issued in November 2011 after he violated probation.

Helt moved to Los Angeles after his arrest and tried to find work as a model.

In accepting Cyrus' award for video of the year, he brought attention to youth homelessness.

After the revelations of Helt's past came out, Cyrus took to Twitter: "The media never fails to disappoint. You've chosen to go after Jesse instead of covering the issue of youth homelessness."
