HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Hollywood will be jammed with One Direction fans Thursday afternoon because the group is holding a concert on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The concert is expected to start around 6:15 p.m. There will be several street closures in the area surrounding Hollywood Boulevard.

Fans waited hours to see the band perform, and the large crowd prompted extra security in the area.

The Los Angeles Police Department said it increased foot patrols, bike patrols and bomb sniffing K9s.

"We always have a heavy presence of police in the area just because it's so crowded. We have the Hollywood entertainment district where a bunch of additional officers are assigned. You'll see additional officers out there tonight, there will be a high uniform presence," Commander Andy Smith with the LAPD said.

The security concern comes after terrorists attacked Paris on Friday, killing 129 and wounding 350 others.

On Wednesday, a Russian tourist was stabbed by a man just steps from the walk of fame.

One Direction also appeared on Good Morning America earlier this week to help celebrate the show's 40 years on air. The pop group just released their new album last Friday.

You can watch One Direction's performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! at 11:35 p.m. on ABC7.
