LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The producer of "Sangre Negra," a privately-financed show, promises to bring diversity to TV.

The cast and crew are committed to putting 13 episodes of their show in the can. They're all betting on themselves that the show will find the right home. There are some familiar faces in the cast, but the star of "Sangre Negra" is diversity.

Ricardo Herranz is one of the stars and one of the producers of the show. The makers consider it a kind of cross between "The Sopranos" and "Dallas," and they're especially proud that it boasts a cast of many colors.

"I promise the first and only show on mainstream television that's going to include the biggest variety of ethnic diversity there is on any show on TV," Herranz said.

The show takes place in Los Angeles and revolves around the Santos family. Eric Roberts and Erik Estrada are also set to star in the series.

They have a non-exclusive deal right now to put the show on Video On Demand, but they're open to other possibilities.
