'Star Wars' fans treated to big surprises at Comic-Con 2015
Harrison Ford surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con Friday, making it his first appearance since crash landing his vintage airplane in March.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Harrison Ford surprised fans at San Diego Comic-Con Friday, making it his first appearance since crash landing his vintage airplane in March.

The 72-year-old star said he is excited to be reprising his iconic role as Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It was just one part in a long list of surprises for Star Wars fans. They were also treated to new behind-the-scenes footage from the set of the highly-anticipated sequel, which is directed by J. J. Abrams.

The scenes featured TIE fighters, a funny cameo from Simon Pegg and Han Solo returning to the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.

About 6,500 fans who waited in line were also treated to a surprise concert -- the Star Wars soundtrack was played by the San Diego Symphony.
