U2 gives impromptu concert on Chelsea street

CHELSEA, Manhattan -- It wasn't just your average band playing on a street corner in New York's Chelsea neighborhood.

People walking by were shocked to stumble across one of the biggest rock bands in the world performing below the High Line park - U2.

Bono, The Edge and their bandmates performed on 26th Street Friday afternoon after giving fans just 30 minutes notice on Facebook.

The Irish rock group was playing songs to promote their new album, Songs of Experience.

The impromptu acoustic performance was streamed live on Facebook and has already racked up more than 5 million views.
