BLACK ROCK DESERT, Nev. (KABC) -- A woman was struck and killed by a bus at the Burning Man festival in Nevada's Black Rock Desert Thursday, officials said.

Authorities say the accident happened just after midnight. The woman, identified as 29-year-old Alicia Louise Cipicchio of Jackson, Wyoming, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Few details have been released about the accident, but sheriff's investigators say she fell under the bus.

"This is a terrible accident," said Burning Man co-founder Marian Gooddell in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and campmates."

Tens of thousands of people flock to the Nevada desert every year to participate in the week-long festival.

The bus was carrying passengers around the festival, according to officials. No other injuries were reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
