Marching band stuns drum major with awesome mid-performance marriage proposal
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- It's one thing to surprise your girlfriend with a musical proposal.
It's something else entirely to propose in the middle of a drum-line cadence...when she's standing on the conductor's podium.
Kara Mullinax, the drum major of the Jacksonville State University Marching Southerners, was shocked when what she thought was an alumni reunion performance turned into something else entirely.

The video includes a picture of Mullinax's priceless reaction when the snare drums were turned for her to read the message "Kara Marry me" and her boyfriend (now fiancee), Nic Burgess, peeled away from the line-up.
Mullinax had no idea that Burgess was even on the field, said Dr. Kenneth G. Bodiford. Bodiford, the band director at Jacksonville State University, uploaded the video.
In case you had any doubt, she said yes!
We don't think Burgess could have drummed up a better idea if he tried.
