Olivia Wilde is known for being many things. Talented actress. Well-spoken activist. Loving partner to Jason Sudeikis. But many don't know that being a caring mother is one of Wilde's regular pastimes.

Glamour magazine captured Wilde in an intimate parenting moment with the actress breastfeeding her 3-month-old son Otis. Wilde is very proud of how being a new mother has fit into her identity.

"Breast-feeding is the most natural thing. I don't know, now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we've been discussing-that we know we can be. You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed," Wilde told Glamour.

Breastfeeding in public though has become a very controversial topic. Debate has waged on whether breastfeeding is an acceptable act for a mother to perform in public, while many are concerned over what is the proper age to stop breastfeeding a child.

TIME magazine received criticism for its May 2012 cover depicting mother Jamie Grumet breastfeeding her 3-year-old son. Grumet received harsh reaction on social media and even death threats over the cover, but the mother held steadfast that breastfeeding is a normal process that should not be stigmatized.

Karlesha Thurman is another mother whose public breastfeeding prompted social media outcry. At graduation from California State University, Long Beach on May 22, 2014, Thurman proudly posted a photo of her breastfeeding her 3-month-old daughter to Facebook.

Thurman's post was intended to show that breastfeeding was a normal process, but it still incited heavy backlash from social media users.

Even when faced with harsh criticism over their actions, these moms still take full pride when breastfeeding in public. Check out the gallery above to see Wilde's natural display of parental affection.
