City of Hope looks to boost kids' interest in science
Actress Mayim Bialik and the City of Hope held a pop-up exhibit in Santa Monica that aimed to get kids more interested in science and medicine.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- Pop up stores usually relate to food or fashion. But Wednesday in Santa Monica, the Third Street Promenade hosted one that looked to get kids interested in science and medicine.

The City of Hope launched its Hope Experiment to help encourage young people to study science, technology, engineering and math.

The pop-up event offered information about nutrition and the latest treatments for cancer.

Actress Mayim Bialik, who not only plays a neuroscientist on TV but is one in real life, lent her support to the effort.

"What they're trying to do is inspire people to understand the kind of things that world-renowned research universities do to battle things like cancer," Bialik said.
