One baby's incredible birth has caused a sensation across the country.

Silas Johnson, a "miracle baby," was born three months early at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on December 6, fully enclosed within its amniotic sac. The baby's physician was so shocked by the birth that he captured a photo on his cell phone before removing the baby from the sac, according to TIME.

A birth with a full amniotic sac is quite the rarity, one that happens once in every 80,000 deliveries, according to Yahoo. Silas then spent the next five weeks at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, part of the Maxine Dunitz Children's Health Center. throughout mid February, according to Cedars-Sinai.

The baby was considered a medical miracle after succesfully being delivered.

"It was a moment that we caught our breath. It really felt like a moment of awe," said Dr. William Binder, who delivered the baby. The doctor says that he had to puncture the amniotic sac with his fingers. "We wanted to get the baby out of the sac and start to get the baby breathing."

Dr. Binder says that delivering Silas was truly an unforgettable experience. "This was a moment that will stick in my memory for some time.

Chelsea Phillips, Silas' mother, didn't even know about the miracle birth until her own mom showed her a picture later. "You could definitely make out his head and hair and you can see his arms and legs curled up," Phillips said. "I found out that was rare and I said 'oh my god Silas, you're a special baby."

Silas went home from the hospital on February 17. Check out the incredible images from Philips birth in the gallery above.
