Burbank's 'Son of Monsterpalooza' brings the scary
'Son of Monsterpalooza' opens in Burbank. The weekend convention showcases monster-related make-up, masks, art, and various other products.

BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- It is the place for anything monster-related -- monster make-up, masks, sculptures, paintings and art.

Son of Monsterpalooza, an off-shoot of the popular Monsterpalooza horror convention, is open at the Marriott Hotel in Burbank through Sunday, Sept. 14.

"Son of Monsterpalooza was created because so many people wanted to be involved in Monsterpalooza, we couldn't house them all," said event producer Elliot Brodsky, who was inspired by a childhood filled with watching horror movies.

"I was fascinated by the whole process, thinking what would this be like if you could see this stuff in person, not just on the big screen?" Brodsky said.

His convention features make-up artists providing live demonstrations. One make-up artist from the studio PPI was dressed as Beetlejuice.

While some spent hours getting make-up applied to look like their favorite characters, others walked the floor in costumes, including one man who dressed as Freddy Krueger.

"They try not to act scared, but they are," the man said.

Masks are sold and sculptures created. There are also art galleries.

Rob Cametti invited 90 artists to create their interpretation of the "The Bride of Frankenstein." He plans on auctioning them off to benefit charity.

"I don't run marathons. I don't do charity events. I make monsters. I figured, 'What can I do to give back to the community?'"
