Dana Point teen surfs every day, come rain or shine
One Dana Point teen has surfed every day for the past three years! Check out Meg Roh's story.

SAN ONOFRE STATE BEACH (KABC) -- For Meg Roh, surfing has become a daily ritual. Every day for the past three years the 15-year-old has hit the waves.

"Every day I surf, it's like, I get really stoked," Meg said with a smile.

The Dana Point resident says she decided on June 1, 2011 to try to surf every day. That became 100 straight days... then 300.

"Once I hit 300 days, I wanted to do a year and then the goals just went on," said Meg.

Rain or shine, whether healthy or under-the-weather, Roh says she tries to catch at least five waves every day.

"Sometimes it can take a couple of hours if the waves are small," she said.

Her father tries to surf with her, but admits it's not easy.

"There's been days when I've said, 'this is your record not mine, so you keep going,'" said Sam Hann, Meg's dad.

Her parents say Meg is allowed to surf provided she keeps her grades up. She's maintained straight A's since junior high.

Her discipline is inspiring to others.

"It's pretty amazing just the dedication," said Jacquie Johnson. "She's out here cold [or] rain doesn't really matter, she's been out here sick surfing."

Meg admits there are days she would rather stay home but that attitude changes once she gets to the beach.

"I love being in the water because it makes me feel free," she said. "It's just good to be out there with my friends and family."

How much longer will the surfing streak go on?

She says she's not sure.

"I've been thinking about stopping soon so I can travel a little more," Meg said. "[But] I'll definitely surf a lot still... surfing makes me happy."
