RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Riverside police are on the hunt for a gunman or gunmen after a man was found shot to death inside his car at a Chase bank in Riverside early Friday morning.

Police responded to the parking lot of the bank in the 10300 block of Magnolia Avenue at about 4:30 a.m., where they discovered the man's body and the car backed into a tree.

Police said the car was still running at the time and four bullet holes covered the car.

The victim's identity was not released.

The victim's family said he went to the bank to withdraw money. Riverside authorities are investigating the crime as a possible robbery, but the motive was still under investigation.

"They did find evidence of a shooting in the parking lot, and so right now our robbery homicide detectives and evidence specialists are out here processing the scene and collecting that evidence," said Ryan Railsback of Riverside police.

Bank customers said they were worried about their own safety after hearing about the murder.

Witnesses said they saw two people running away from the scene but were not able to provide a good description.

Authorities said they're working on getting any surveillance video from the bank and surrounding businesses.
