REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- A kitten, likely used as a chew toy for a dog, was on the road to recovery Thursday afternoon.
The Nine Lives Foundation posted a video of Smurf playing with his two new friends, and feeling much better.
The 8-week-old kitten that was dyed indigo was found with 20 deep puncture wounds and dropped off at a San Jose rescue shelter.
Smurf will undergo surgery next week to repair his wounds.
He's making quick friends with Cherry, another cat, and they will placed in foster care next week together.
