Many excitedly wait in long lines at SoCal retailers for Powerball tickets

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KABC) -- The excitement was growing as SoCal residents waited in long lines for the winning numbers for the $900 million Powerball jackpot on Saturday.

Lottery ticket buyers were absolutely giddy when they talked about what they would buy if they won the record-setting jackpot.

Many were waiting outside of Bluebird Liquor in Hawthorne, where past lottery winners have taken home thousands and millions of dollars.

A lot of buyers were hoping to cash in on the nation's largest lottery jackpot in history by joining groups.
