Pallet yard fire knocked down in Fontana

FONTANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire at a pallet yard in Fontana Sunday night.

The blaze was reported in the 15600 block of Boyle Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Responding San Bernardino County firefighters found heavy smoke and the pallet yard fully engulfed in flames.

A plume of thick smoke could also be seen from several miles away. The blaze downed power lines and trees along the street. The fire was knocked down at about 1:20 a.m., authorities said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but investigators say the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

This is the second fire to erupt at a pallet yard in Fontana in less than a week. On Wednesday, San Bernardino County firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire at a pallet yard near Sierra and Slover avenues.
