3 dead in South LA after 2 gang shootings, LAPD says
The Los Angeles Police Department said two South Los Angeles gang-related shootings have left three people dead in less than 48 hours.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Officials are releasing more details in a South Los Angeles shooting that left two people dead, and a second shooting police believed may have been in retaliation.

The first set of deadly bullets rang out near 81st Street and Avalon Boulevard at about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The shooting killed 20-year-old Shujaa Silver of Los Angeles and 16-year-old Cy'jai Bell, while injuring two others.

Police said a vehicle pulled up, a passenger got out with an assault rifle and shot multiple times at a crowd as people tried to flee.

Authorities said the suspect fled in an SUV heading north on Avalon Boulevard.

Less than 48 hours later, a second shooting left a 17-year-old boy dead near 83rd Street and Avalon Avenue at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Investigators said a man walked up to the teen and shot multiple times. The teen ran away and sought shelter in a nearby apartment where he died, according to officials.

Police said they believe the two deadly shootings are gang related.
