MEXICO CITY (KABC) --Pope Francis arrives in Mexico on Friday for a week-long visit that has generated excitement throughout the overwhelmingly Catholic nation.
With more than 90 million Catholics, Mexico is the world's second-most Catholic country.
The pope is scheduled to start his tour in Mexico City, meeting with the nation's political and religious leaders and holding Mass in the Basilica of Guadalupe.
He will later visit a pediatric hospital and tour some of the nation's most poverty-stricken and dangerous communities - such as Ciudad Juarez where he will visit a prison and host a Holy Mass on a fairgrounds. He returns to Rome on the night of Feb. 17.
