Clerk assaulted in Ventura CVS robbery
Two armed men attacked a CVS store employee during a robbery in Ventura.

VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two masked and armed men robbed a CVS and attacked a clerk in Ventura early Friday morning, police said.

The suspects entered the 24-hour store at 5900 Telegraph Road shortly before 3:30 a.m., Ventura police said. One man had a handgun and the other was armed with a baseball bat.

One suspect attacked a store clerk and threw her to the ground, inflicting serious head injuries. They forced another employee to open the registers and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A second employee was also injured during the robbery. Both were brought to a local hospital for treatment. They were listed in stable condition.

CVS said it plans to immediately implement new security measures at the store.
