Suspect dies after deputy-involved shooting in Yorba Linda
A fatal deputy-involved shooting that occurred in Yorba Linda on Monday was being investigated, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

YORBA LINDA, Calif. (KABC) -- A fatal deputy-involved shooting that occurred in Yorba Linda on Monday was being investigated, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The shooting happened outside the Extended Stay America hotel in the 22700 block of Oakcrest Circle shortly before 1 p.m., an Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said.

Officials said deputies approached a suspicious vehicle in the hotel parking lot. A driver was inside the car when the deputy-involved shooting occurred. The circumstances surrounding the gunfire were not clear.

The suspect, identified by the Orange County Fire Authority as a 30-year-old man, was taken to the Orange County Global Medical Center and later died, according to sheriff's officials.

The Orange County District Attorney was investigating the incident.
