Los Angeles police released a sketch of a suspect they said dragged and attempted to sexually assault an elderly woman in Northridge.

Police are looking for a suspect accused of dragging an elderly woman from her home and nearly sexually assaulting her in Northridge.

Los Angeles police released a composite sketch of the male attacker that struck at about 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 and eventually left the scene. Investigators said the attack happened in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood, but would not reveal the street.

The suspect was described as a black man between 30 and 40 years old. He is believed to be about 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs about 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black shirt, black pants and black shoes.

Residents said they are on alert and will report any suspicious activity.

"If they are going to do that, sad to say, to an elderly woman, they are going to do it to anybody," said resident Chris Yadach.

Police only described the victim as a woman over the age of 70 and said she was injured, but would not go into specifics of her injuries.

Anyone with information on the incident was urged to call the LAPD at (818)-832-0918. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.

Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
