Pedestrian struck, killed in East Hollywood hit-and-run crash

EAST HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in East Hollywood on Friday.

The incident occurred near Normandie and Melrose avenues sometime Friday morning.

The pedestrian was crossing the street when the crash happened. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he or she was pronounced dead.

The driver fled the scene and was at large.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.

Police closed Normandie Avenue for a time to gather evidence and clear the scene.
