PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect was taken into custody at a HoneyBaked Ham store in Pasadena after a short but wild police chase Thursday.
The pursuit began on the 10 Freeway at about 2:20 p.m., then transitioned onto the 101 and 110 freeways. Police said the suspect was a possible gang member and was believed to be armed with a handgun.
Authorities said someone called police to report seeing a man with a gun in his waistband. Officers identified the suspect's vehicle and tried to conduct a stop, sparking the chase.
At one point, the black sedan stopped for a moment while a passenger got out and immediately surrendered to police.
The suspect's vehicle then sped off at a high rate of speed, slamming into another vehicle a short time later.
When the suspect entered a residential area, he jumped out of the car and ran through backyards.
Eventually, the suspect ran into a shopping area on Sierra Madre Boulevard in Pasadena. He was arrested at about 2:50 p.m. His name has not yet been released.
