Woman arrested on suspicion of killing grandfather in Stanton hit-and-run

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities arrested a woman Wednesday on suspicion of killing a man who was crossing the street in Stanton last month.

Orange County Sheriff's Department traffic bureau investigators identified Abbigail Lynn Landaas, 27, of Trabuco Canyon, as the suspected hit-and-run driver.

On Feb. 25, 57-year-old Rosendo Perez was crossing the street near Cerritos Avenue and Sherrill Street when he was struck by a car and left to die on the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene when investigators arrived.

Authorities said Landaas abandoned her car a few blocks away and fled the scene following the deadly crash.

Information obtained at the scene and during the investigation helped authorities find Landaas. She was booked into Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. She is set to be arraigned on felony hit-and-run charges Friday.

No booking photo of Landaas was released due to the ongoing investigation, authorities said.
