GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect stole a West Covina police car and led officers on a lengthy high-speed chase Sunday through central Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, with the cruiser's lights flashing and sirens blaring.

The chase ended with the suspect cornered in a Glendale parking lot as officers violently rammed his car and boxed in the stolen cruiser.

Police say there was an officer-involved shooting at the end of the chase, but the condition of the suspect has not been disclosed.

It appeared, however, that officers were no longer in tactical mode against the suspect and were placing a plastic sheet over the cruiser.

The high-speed chase ran through surface streets and freeways throughout central Los Angeles, starting in the West Covina area and eventually winding up the 101 Freeway up to the San Fernando Valley.

The suspect drove at high speeds with the cruiser's lights on as officers followed closely behind. The stolen car jumped on and off freeways and then eventually ended up cornered in a parking lot a few blocks from the Americana at Brand mall.
