MONTEREY PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- A man stabbed his showering wife more than 20 times before she fought him off and ran naked out of the house in Monterey Park, authorities said.

Police said they received a report about a domestic dispute between a husband and wife in the 1200 block of West Newmark Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Thursday.

The woman was in the shower when her husband approached her and began attacking her. Investigators said she was able to fight him off and ran out of their home without any clothes on.

Responding officers found her on the street and followed a trail of blood back to the victim's house.

The husband, later identified as 63-year-old Kam Hing Wong, was found outside the home and was arrested, police said.

He was booked for attempted murder and domestic violence without bail.

Authorities said despite multiple lacerations, the victim's wounds were non-life threatening and was expected to survive.

Members of the community said they were shaken up.

"For this gentleman to stab his wife, he has mental problems," said Monterey Park resident Ernesto Naval. "For someone to go to that extreme and stab a lady - something is wrong."
