Preview of 2016 FIA Formula E series in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A race unlike any other in the country is coming to Long Beach. The cars are fast but you can barely hear them because they're all electric.

The 2016 FIA Formula E Long Beach ePRIX is making a return on Saturday with some drivers who have raced in the city before, including one with two Indy car victories.

The race caps off a week that saw electric vehicles in the news. Tesla got worldwide attention for its unveiling of the new Model 3.

If electric cars really are the future, then Formula E is part of that future. Battery powered cars are as quick as almost any car that's ever raced here, but in an eerily quiet way.
