CARSON, Calif. (KABC) --A new deal between the Los Angeles Unified School District and CSU Dominguez Hills guarantees qualified South Los Angeles students enrollment at the campus.
The agreement essentially says that high school students in LAUSD's Local District-South who graduate with a 3.0 average are automatically guaranteed enrollment at Dominguez Hills.
The intent is to encourage more South Los Angeles students to get into the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
"It's the realization of a dream - finally, kids can be guaranteed, if they meet the requirements, that they have a seat," said LAUSD Superintendent Michelle King.
The district and university plan to hold an annual job fair to help place qualified graduates as teachers in LAUSD schools.
