IRVINE, Calif. (KABC) -- Three people were hospitalized after a car careened into an Irvine ice cream shop Wednesday night.

Around 9:10 p.m., a woman in her 20s crashed her car 25 feet into an ice cream store in the 2700 block of Alton Parkway.

Two teenage girls who were in the shop were injured and taken to Children's Hospital of Orange County. The driver was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center. According to Irvine police officers, all three people suffered "superficial injuries" and would be OK.

The business did not suffer any structural damage from the crash, authorities said. No further information was available.

The cause was under investigation.
