LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- The Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race enters its 40th and final year in Long Beach Saturday.

The charity event will have its bittersweet farewell with a special cast of competitors - many of whom are past winners.

The drivers include Dara Torres, Alfonso Ribeiro, Frankie Muniz, Adam Carolla and Brian Austin Green. The race started at 11:40 a.m. and ended an hour later as celebrities and professional drivers do 10 laps around the track.

As many as 180,000 spectators were expected to show up to the event. A Chino Hills father who brought his son from the first time said he enjoyed coming as a kid and wanted to share that experience.

Toyota made the announcement to end the race as its North American headquarters moved from Torrance to Texas. The car company said it could no longer commit to providing support for the event, but it will remain the sponsor for the Grand Prix of Long Beach through 2017.
