Bald eagles spotted nesting in San Gabriel Mountains

AZUSA, Calif. (KABC) -- A historic sight to behold was in the San Gabriel Mountains as bald eagles were found nesting for the first time in the area in years.

It was something very unusual to see in Los Angeles County, especially unusual in the area north of Azusa. In fact, the manager of the local Audubon chapter said he had never heard of nesting bald eagles in the San Gabriel Mountains before the sighting.

Officials of the chapter said it's been decades since the last report of a nest on the L.A. County mainland.
