VIDEO: Boat in distress rescued off coast of San Pedro
Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department rescued a boater in distress off the coast of San Pedro.

SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A boater off the coast of San Pedro had to be rescued due to the dangerous conditions out on the water Monday afternoon.

The boater was actually inside the breakwater near the coast, but the wind and choppy conditions were too much for the small sailboat to handle.

Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department came to the man's rescue, throwing him a rope and towing him into the marina.

There were complications as the boat was towed toward the harbor as it collided with the rescue vessel.

But eventually the boat was safely brought back to marina.

The fire department said there was no damage to either boat from the collision and no one was injured.

Dangerous conditions were created on the water after strong winds swept through Southern California.
