BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- The body of a man left wrapped in plastic in an empty dirt lot behind a Burbank lumber yard was identified Friday.

Authorities launched a homicide investigation after 30-year-old Nshan Balyan's body was discovered by a Caltrans worker behind Stock Lumber Thursday afternoon.

Burbank police said the North Hollywood resident had at least one run-in with law enforcement in the past, but did not give further details. Authorities believe he was killed at a different location and his body was dumped at the yard.

Police are now looking for a security video and any witnesses who may have seen something to try and find the suspect or suspects involved in the crime.

"We're trying to determine who he has been hanging out with, who he has been dealing with and what ties he may or may not have with any sort of nefarious groups," Sgt. Claudio Losacco said.

Balyan's cause of death would be determined by an autopsy, authorities said.
