LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Actress Kate Beckinsale heads back in time to the 1790s for her new movie "Love & Friendship."
It's the second time in her career she's been involved in a movie involving author Jane Austen.
Beckinsale plays a widow intent on finding a proper husband for her daughter -- and one for herself as well.
There are plenty of rumors swirling around about her dalliances, but she's not concerned.
"She's a very intelligent woman. She's very resourceful," Beckinsale said. "She's a pretty good planner in terms of her own future, and she's pretty good at not experiencing any shame at all in terms of her ruthlessly going after whatever and whoever she wants."
"Love & Friendship" is based on Jane Austen's novella, "Lady Susan," which went unpublished for several decades.
"I'm a massive Jane Austen fan. I love a Jane Austen movie," Beckinsale said. "This is a really different sort of Jane Austen movie because it's really hilariously funny."
