TORRANCE, Calif. (KABC) -- Police were investigating an overnight car shooting in Torrance Sunday that left two people injured before their vehicle caught fire.

Torrance police responded to the call of two gunshot victims at about 2:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Artesia Boulevard.

A car was reportedly getting off the 405 Freeway when someone opened fire on the people inside. The car then crashed and caught fire near 173 Street and Inglewood Avenue, but everyone got out in time.

Police said a 23-year-old man, who was shot in the chest, was expected to survive. A woman was also hurt by broken glass from the wreck.

The cause of the shooting was under investigation, and no suspect information was immediately available.
