SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two men were recovering from gunshot wounds after a violent altercation inside a Santa Ana cemetery on Sunday.

It appeared both shooting victims were drinking beer around 12:30 p.m. at a grave site inside Fairhaven Memorial Park, in the 1700 block of Fairhaven Avenue, when a gray SUV pulled up and the people inside started yelling.

The verbal altercation escalated into a melee and then gunshots were fired, according to Santa Ana police.

One man was shot in his upper torso and another in his lower torso, but both were expected to survive.

No arrests were immediately made in the shooting, and the cemetery was reopened to those paying respects on Memorial Day weekend.
