SANTA MONICA, Los Angeles (KABC) -- The suspect in an alleged date-rape attempt in Santa Monica that was thwarted by three women dining nearby has been charged with two felony counts and faces up to six years in state prison if convicted, officials said Tuesday.

Michael Roe Chien Hsu, 24, was charged with one felony count each of administering a drug and assault with intent to commit a sex crime.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office sought bail of $1 million, but a judge reduced it to $350,000 at Hsu's arraignment Tuesday.

Hsu was also ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and turn over his passport and pilot license.

Hsu was allegedly spotted dropping an unidentified substance into his date's drink on May 26 at the Fig restaurant in Santa Monica.

Three women who were dining nearby said they spotted him dropping something into the drink and alerted the woman, as well as restaurant management. After restaurant security checked the video, police were called and they arrested Hsu.

The three women, Sonia Ulrich, Marla Saltzer and Monica Kenyon, shared their tale on Facebook and created a meme that has been shared more than 115,000 times. It depicts the three in a "Charlie's Angels" pose, declaring "Don't roofie someone on our watch!"
