DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The California Highway Patrol pursued a stolen car through Los Angeles streets and freeways Friday evening.

The Los Angeles Police Department began chasing the vehicle at about 9:45 p.m. The CHP later took over the pursuit.

The suspect led officers down the 5 Freeway through Burbank near Griffith Park before jumping on the 110 Freeway and heading through downtown Los Angeles.

The car got off the freeway in South Los Angeles and began speeding through residential areas.

At one point, it appeared the suspect was going to stop as the vehicle slowed down. But as CHP pulled closer, the driver took off again.

The chase then entered back onto the 110 Freeway. The driver led police back to the 5 Freeway again.

After the vehicle got on the 134 Freeway, it exited at Coldwater Canyon where a female passenger exited the car in Studio City.

The driver then took off again. Police said the woman was taken into custody.

The suspect took Coldwater Canyon into the Hollywood Hills. The suspect later foot bailed off of Coldwater Canyon as CHP officers searched the area.

Authorities arrested the suspect Saturday morning just after midnight at his home in North Hollywood. He faces charges for felony evasion.
