Around 5:30 p.m., police responded to the 7900 block of S. Van Ness Street on reports of a shooting victim. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man was later identified as 24-year-old Joshua Williams. The athlete attended Oregon State University from 2011 until 2013 then transferred to KSU for the 2014-2015 year.
It was unclear what led to the shooting, but neighbors in the area said they heard several shots and people running away from the scene.
Professional athletes took to social media to share their grief over Williams' death.
