One man was killed and another was hospitalized following a business dispute at a South Gate body shop Wednesday night.

South Gate police originally responded to a "man with a knife" call at a body shop in the 4900 block of Mason Street shortly before 6 p.m., according to a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The incident apparently started with a business dispute over missing auto parts when two men were arguing with another man inside the business and then pulled out knives.

The victim's nephew witnessed the incident, grabbed a gun and shot both suspects, killing one of them.

The other suspect was hurt with unknown injuries, and the victim sustained minor injuries, according to sheriff's officials.

All people involved in the incident were taken into custody as the investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident was encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
