1.2M travelers expected to pass through LAX over July 4th weekend
A record 1,207,000 people are expected to pass through Los Angeles International Airport over the Fourth of July weekend, with Friday being the busiest day of the holiday travel period.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Pack your patience if you're headed to Los Angeles International Airport! A record 1,207,000 people are expected to pass through LAX over the Fourth of July weekend.

Friday is expected to be the busiest day of the five-day holiday travel period, with LAX expecting nearly 265,000 travelers.

The number of expected holiday travelers at the airport is up about 10 percent from last year's record of 1.1 million people.

The holiday travel period runs from Friday through Tuesday.

Security at the airport will be tight, and authorities are asking the public to keep their eyes open and be aware of anything suspicious.

Police at LAX will have a more visible presence in response to the Turkey airport attack. The heightened security includes more police dogs and random checks of cars coming into the airport.
