Cool Kid Emily Hacopian teaches kids about California's gold rush

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Our ABC7 Cool Kid for Thursday, June 30, is Emily Hacopian, who volunteers on weekends to teach kids about the California gold rush.

"Life as we know it today was built on the backs of people that were literally busting their backs, finding gold and working long hours just to make life here," Hacopian said.

The 16-year-old sophomore volunteers at the Autry Museum of the American West every Sunday.

Her dedication and commitment to helping others learn makes Hacopian our Cool Kid of the week.
