A new moving hitting the DVD and digital world takes its story from a local animal rescue group.

The movie, called "Emma's Chance," is about a teenage girl who finds herself doing community service at the Red Bucket Equine Rescue. Kelsey Grammer's daughter, Greer Grammer, plays the title role.

Susan Pierce, played by Missi Pyle, is the president and founder of the Red Bucket Equine Rescue. Since 2009, Red Bucket has rescued and rehabilitated more than 300 abused, neglected and abandoned horses.

"They use all of our horses, all of our volunteers. It's actually shot at the original Red Bucket. It's amazing, and all of the horses play themselves," Pierce said. "I think it shines a very bright light on our beautiful work and it will bring awareness to people."

An average horse at the rescue will gain about 350 pounds. In one scene, Emma is shown with Chance, a show horse that was abused and has become untrusting.

Emma ends up at the rescue because she got into a little trouble. She was ordered by the court to help out the group, and it's there that she and Chance bond, changing both of their lives along the way.

"I think that the basic take away is to have compassion. I think we need a little bit more compassion, especially toward animals, at-risk animals. That's the basic message of the movie," producer Tyler W. Konney said.
