New security measures in place at OC Fair
Big crowds were expected, as usual, for opening day of the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, and tight security will be in place.

COSTA MESA, Calif. (KABC) -- Big crowds were expected, as usual, for opening day of the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, and tight security will be in place.

Massive lines of people were waiting to get in for the opening day of the 126th OC Fair. Thousands flooded the fairgrounds ready to get their fill of the rides, the games, the animals, and of course, the food.

While tasty goods were on the minds of many, safety and security was the priority for the fair staff and the sheriff's department.

For the first time, every guest must walk through a metal detector before entering the grounds.

Orange County deputies asked the public to do their part to keep everyone safe and report suspicious behavior.
