BALDWIN PARK, Calif. (KABC) --A chase suspect who barricaded himself inside a Baldwin Park home and caused two nearby schools to be placed on lockdown was taken into custody.
Pleasant View Elementary School and Jerry D. Holland Middle School were placed on lockdown after a chase suspect crashed near Maine Avenue and Olive Street.
Authorities conducted a search for the suspect in the 1800 block of Elizabeth Street, which prompted the evacuation of nearby homes as a precaution.
There were three suspects in the car, authorities said. Two were taken into custody and one threw a gun into the street.
A third suspect barricaded himself inside a shed or laundry room in the back of a home in the area, according to witnesses. But police made entry into the home, found the suspect in a woman's top and took him into custody.
The situation started around 10:15 a.m. when Irwindale police saw a car traveling at a high speed. Authorities attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver sped off, leading to the chase and eventual crash.
